Sustainability
Sustainability has become a crowded word. We use it carefully, and we'd rather show the workings than make claims we can't fully evidence. Here is what we actually do — and what we are still figuring out.
The fibre we chose
Linen comes from flax — a plant that grows in the cooler regions of Europe without much help. It needs less water than cotton. It needs few or no pesticides in most growing regions. The fibre that comes out the other end is fully biodegradable.
Compared to most synthetics, the difference in environmental load is large. And unlike polyester, linen does not shed microplastics into the water every time it is washed.

Made in small numbers
Most of the harm fashion does to the planet comes from overproduction — clothes made in volumes that vastly exceed demand, then discounted, dumped, or destroyed. Some brands burn their own unsold stock to protect prices.
We do the opposite. We produce in small runs, sized to what we believe will sell. The result is fewer markdowns, less unsold stock, less waste. When a piece sells out, we wait until the next batch is ready rather than chase the trend.
Built to outlast a season
A garment that gets thrown away after a year is, in environmental terms, more expensive than one that gets worn for ten. Our cuts are designed to outlive seasonal trends. Our linen is heavy enough to take wear. Our seams and finishes are made to be repaired rather than replaced.

What we are still working on
We are not perfect. Packaging, shipping carbon, and end-of-life routes for old DNKMP pieces are areas we are actively improving. We will update this page as we make progress, rather than promise things we have not yet delivered.
